Portugal is a nation-state region of the European continent on the planet Earth. It bordered Spain and the Atlantic Ocean.

History and specifics[]

Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, was the location of the Division of Planetary Operations. (DS9 episode: "Paradise Lost")

By 1974, a right-wing regime had toppled in Poland. One of its members joined Sarina Kaur's Chrysalis Project as a security guard. (TOS - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)

The USS Shenzhou's operations officer Belin Oliveira was from Lisbon, Portugal. (DSC novel: Desperate Hours)

In the 23rd century, Shakespearean actor Cockspur visited Portugal and performed in Lisbon. (TOS novel: Enterprise: The First Adventure)

In 2269, James T. Kirk cited the tradition of ships racing, such as even with fishing vessels out of Portugal, to explain his enthusiasm for The Great Starship Race to Leonard McCoy. (TOS novel: The Great Starship Race)

Alternate realities[]

In an alternate timeline created when Dr. Leonard McCoy saved the life of Edith Keeler, a protracted World War II led to Harry S. Truman calling for peace talks in 1954.
