Povin was an inhabited world, a class M planet and homeworld of the humanoid Povini species. Povin orbited the star Mivic, primary of the Mivic system and located in the Ferenginar sector of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant. (STO - New Frontiers mission: "Of Signs and Portents")

History and specifics[]

By the 2410s decade, the Povini were a warp-capable culture. Their civilization was divided, and the Povini were their own enemies and had no contact with other species. The Povini had not colonized any other planets.

At some point in the past, Povin had been seeded with Drantzuli eggs. During the Tzenkethi Crusade in the year 2410, these were detected by the Tzenkethi Coalition and a fleet was dispatched to render the planet sterile with a protomatter bomb. In a desperate defense of their homeworld, the Povini united and fielded fifty ships, some lightly armed and others unarmed. The Tzenkethi incurred only light damage when they eliminated the fleet and ravaged Povin with protomatter, leaving a burnt wasteland behind.

Soon after, the LSS Reskava and the IKS Kor of the Alliance arrived in the system, investigating the Tzenkethi's trail of destruction. They recovered the last Povini ship, Egen Burren's Bastion, and several escape pods. These survivors represented the last living Povini. Captain Burren requested asylum with the Alliance, and was directed to their Deep Space Station K-13 in the 20 Draconis system. (STO - New Frontiers mission: "Of Signs and Portents")

The Lukari used protomatter for non-destructive means. On the 4th Reckoning, Captain Kuumaarke recorded in Chronicle 54 the return to Povin with the means to restore life to Povin. The Povini had become divided again, however. They argued whether to restore Povin in its last configuration, or to its golden age. (STO - Reckoning mission: "A Message From the Lukari II")
