Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Primate world was an otherwise unnamed planet located just outside of space known to the Federation in the late 23rd century, in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

History and specifics[]

The world orbited a binary star made up of an M-type red star and a G-type yellow star. It appeared green and yellow from orbit, had a yellow-colored sky, breathable atmosphere, and nominal gravity. Surface features included flatland, cliffs, mountains, and caverns. Plant life included blue-colored trees. The planet emitted high levels of ion radiation, and magnetic storms were prevalent on the surface, enough to interfere with sensors and prevent transporter operations. In most circumstances it would also prevent the evolution of complex animal life, but a species of anthropoid ape was able to develop there.

The planet was first charted in the year 2285 by the Starfleet starship USS Excelsior. A survey mission was undertaken by Excelsior via its shuttlecraft NX-2000/E7. The shuttle's navigation systems were disrupted by radiation bursts, but mission leader Commander Thimon was able to land the ship. The landing party was soon besieged by the ape creatures, and were forced to retreat into one of the caves for safety. (TOS comic: "The Trouble With Bearclaw")
