A prison barge or prison ship was a sea or space-going vessel that was primarily used to house prisoners.
In 2246, Lieutenant Commander Philippa Georgiou suggested that the Starfleet Corps of Engineers would be able to convert unused cargo containers into a prison barge to use to house former Governor Kodos and his supporters. (DSC novel: Drastic Measures)
