Project Pluto Research Station , a.k.a. Pluto Research Station, was an Earth research outpost founded on Pluto.

History and specifics[]

In the 21st century, on reference stardate 0/39, Pluto base opened. Its primary purpose was to serve as a navigational aid for Earth missions outside the solar system.

On reference stardate 0/68, station researchers determined that the universe was pulsating and would eventually collapse into a quantum singularity.

By reference stardate 0/85, Humans and Alpha Centaurans made up the facility's staff. (ST reference: Spaceflight Chronology)

On reference stardate 0/85, a staff researcher purchased a souvenir from an Orion trader which inadvertently carried a mutant strain of the Omega virus. The virus triggered an epidemic, later called the "Pluto Plague", which killed 200 scientists. (ST references: Spaceflight Chronology, The Worlds of the Federation)

By the 2370s, the station consisted of some small protective domes. It hosted a team of 12 geologists who studied Pluto by drilling core samples. Staff and supplies arrived yearly. (Last Unicorn RPG module: A Cadet's Guide to Sector 001 Earth)
