Background[]
- "Promises Made" is a sequel to "Defiant". The story takes place after "The Way of the Warrior".
- The author commented: "In the episode Tom Riker steals the Defiant and kidnaps Major Kira. By the end of the episode he's turned over to the Cardassians and sentenced to life in prison. Kira promises to get him out. In the series, they never returned to that, never told what happened to Riker. 'Promises Made' is about Kira trying to rescue him". (Voyages of Imagination)
