A protoplaser was a medical device used to treat wounds.

Protoplasers are included in Starfleet medkits. (DS9 - Millennium novel: Inferno)

In 2381, Doctor T'Manis reported to special agents Gariff Lucsly and Marion Dulmur that Teresa Garcia's wounds were partially healed by a protoplaser. (DTI novel: Watching the Clock)

In 2409, the disruptor wound of a female Deferi patient aboard a Deferi frigate in the Raveh system was treated with a bicaridine-loaded hypospray and a protoplaser. (STO mission: "Cold Comfort")
