Pumpkin bread was a traditional type of dessert bread made on Earth.

History and specifics[]

Winona Kirk made a harvest pumpkin bread for her children, usually served as a dessert with ice cream or as a snack with butter. It was made with wheat flour, cornmeal, rolled oats, bran cereal flakes, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, dates, walnuts, pumpkin, oil, and buttermilk. In the 2260s decade, Kirk shared the recipe with Nurse Christine Chapel, who adapted it for the USS Enterprise's food processors. (TOS reference: Official Cooking Manual)

In November 2381, while taking shore leave at her family home in Indiana, Kathryn Janeway harvested a huge pumpkin from her mother Gretchen Janeway's vegetable garden. They resolved to use it to make pumpkin pie and a spiced pumpkin bread. (VOY novel: Protectors)
