For other uses, see Q'Maire.

The Q'Maire was a 24th century Talarian Republic starship, a Q'Maire-class[1] warship and prototype of its class[1] in militia service in the 2360s decade. Its commanding officer was Captain Endar. (TNG episode: "Suddenly Human")

Service history or disposition[]

Development[]

The Q'Maire class was developed by the Talarian suffragette Nenil Bellian. This fact remained a secret and the development was credited to Bellian's husband.

In 2371, security officer Lena Haddar of the USS Aries uncovered a Talarian text that identified the woman as the designer of the Talarian fleets' premier spacecraft.

Bellian also developed the merculite rockets used by Talarian starships.

This ship type was based on designs acquired by the young polity, and the resulting class was sold commercially to other races and cultures. (ST - Adventures RPG module: Alpha Quadrant Sourcebook)

Active service[]

Endar

Captain Endar aboard the Enterprise.

Endar, a veteran soldier, served as the ship's captain in the 2360s. In 2367, his adopted son Jono - a Human captured as infant during the Galen border conflicts - served as youth aboard a Talarian observation craft. In that year, the observation craft suffered damage and its personnel was rescued by the Federation Galaxy-class explorer USS Enterprise-D.

Jono

Youth Jono in 2367.

Captain Jean-Luc Picard was unwilling to return Jeremiah Rossa, Jono's birth name, to the Talarians. The Q'Maire confronted the Enterprise-D but posed no tactical threat to the superior vessel. Summoning a reinforcements, the trio of Talarian warships adopted a triangular envelopment attack posture.

Ultimately, a shootout was averted when Picard agreed with Jono's wishes to return to his adopted father and the Talarian people. (TNG episode: "Suddenly Human")

Legacy[]

By 2368, Jono had reached a rank equal to ensign in the Talarian militia and was serving aboard the starship Minat Rii. (TNG novel: Sins of Commission)

During the Dominion War the ship was heavily damaged in a battle and Endar died, the Q'Maire was then repaired and Jono took command of the ship. (ST comic: "Resurgence, Issue 3")

In 2380 the Q'Maire was among the ships that intercepted the USS Resolute when it entered Talarian space to look for Dr. Leah Brahms.[3]

In 2382 of the First Splinter[4] timeline, Jono served as an apprentice to Endar, who was by now the Talarian Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets, and accompanied him to a meeting with Captain Picard to discuss the Republic joining the Khitomer Accords.
