Qua'lon was a Klingon of the House of SepIch on Taganika.

He owned the IKS Tagana.

Biography[]

Qua'lon was the younger brother to Torghn. When he was young, he couldn't sleep the night before his brother's Rite of Ascension, and he was surprised that himself was sleeping peacefully.

He was present at the lopno' for the Rite of Ascension of his nephew, Pok. When Torghn and Gowron moved to the dining room, he welcomed the honored guest, and they moved to a table. When young Pok was offered a seat next to the men, he hesitated; Gowron said that he looked as if he tripped over a woman, and Qua'lon joked that Pok was so inexperienced that he wouldn't know what to do with a woman. Gowron silenced the jokes.

When Pok unpacked his first cha'nob, a musical score for qul tuq; Qua'lon was a bit disappointed that Pok didn't recognise it as the Klingon opera telling the history of their house, and he started to sing it.

The second present opened was Gowron's, which had hidden inside a Romulan assassin probe that aimed at Gowron; his brother jumped in front of him and took the fatal hit. Qua'lon demanded vengeance but Gowron said it was the time of the death howl. Then he was interrupted again, saying that it was not his, but Pok's place to do it.

Gowron determined that the probe was of Romulan origin; Qua'lon took it and said that no Klingon would use such a coward device, with Gowron sadly suggesting that many Klingons would; Qua'lon immedially faced Vok, who had disassembled the device to study it, and cited his hatred for Gowron and Torghn; Vok admitted it, and was about to say that there was no proof for the accusations, with Qua'lon pointing at the parts he was holding to suggest that he just destroyed all proof. In his thirst for vengeance, Qua'lon called him a "Ferengi animal" and pierced Vok's stomach with his D'k tahg, which he pulled out after Vok closed his eyes, and let his body drop. He surrendered the bloody knife to Pok, ceremoniously closing the circle of vengeance.

But Gowron stopped him, saying that the circle is not closed. Qua'lon looked stunned and surprised, and Gowron said that Vok alone could never tamper with his belongings, but had accomplices, whom they could not learn after what Qua'lon did. Qua'lon said he did not regret his vengeance killing, but agreed with Gowron. Gowron then swore a blood oath to find all responsible for Torghn's death. Qua'lon was about to join him but again stopped by Gowron; he should stay on Taganika in order to protect the house from Vok's House of Ingka. Pok also took the oath, and Qua'lon reminded that Pok was still a boy according to the nugh tlhegh, as he hadn't completed the Second Rite of Ascension. Gowron replied that he would complete it that night.

Indeed, while Gowron's science officer Tellot was studying the probe, Qua'lon and other two of Pok's uncles took part in the Rite. Qua'lon with Gowron welcomed Pok to the River of Pain, telling him about the bravery of his father. Qua'lon and Gowron were the final pair Pok passed through, and they pressed their painsticks hard against him, but he stayed on his feet, until they bowed to the honor of the new warrior. Right then a servant came and reported to him that the probe had been analyzed.

Tellot reported that the probe originated from the Soltaris system within Romulan space, and was very rare and expensive. Qua'lon asked Gowron whether he thought the Romulans were behind this, which he doubted, as they don't want him dead. Gowron asked Pok if he wanted to follow him in honorless places, according to his own will, and Qua'lon expressed his faith that he would; and should he die he would write an opera for him. He also offered the Tagana to Gowron for his quest.

When Gowron returned with Pok, they had a feast, where Gowron narrated their adventure, the discovery of T'lak's treachery, and the killing of Meska and Aleria who were involved with the probe's buying. Hearing Pok's exploits, he agreed with K'Tar that his father would be proud, and he closed the circle of vengeance. But he seemed puzzled with Gowron saying that the real murderer was still not found, as he just didn't feel that the circle was complete, and Qua'lon stressed the killing of Vok with his own hands.

They were interrupted by Vok's widow, T'Var, asking to speak with Gowron. Qua'lon stood up furious, forbidding the honorless murderer's wife to enter their house, and forbade her to speak, on the right of the House's head. But Gowron reminded that Pok was the head of the house, who let her speak. Qua'lon returned to his seat, roughly pushed his plate and spilled his drink to show his disagreement.

To prove the innocence of her dead husband, the woman said that, although he did want Gowron dead, he would never make such an attempt, knowing that Torghn would rather sacrifice himself, according to his honor, in order to save him; as he did. The real target therefore was not Gowron, but Torghn, while misleading everyone about the motives. Then Gowron urged Pok to decide: Who, from an ancient House, would gain from Torghn's death, and knew him well enough to predict his reaction?

Pok then pointed at Qua'lon, who stood up angry, shouting and tipping his chair. Gowron seemed to agree with Pok, saying that with both Torghn and Pok dead, he would become the head of the House. Qua'lon denied it, although it was obvious to Gowron that he would rush and kill both men. To prove his innocence he challenged Pok to a vItHay'. Qua'lon started to leave to have his men prepare the ritual chamber, but Gowron blocked his way, preferring his men to do so. Qua'lon stared at him and left.

Qua'lon had underestimated Pok, who fought with a bat'tLeH. Qua'lon was himself killed by Pok in that duel. (TNG novelization: Klingon)
