The Quasar Bar and Grill was a 23rd century bar establishment in San Francisco on the planet Earth.

History and specifics[]

Dr. Leonard McCoy was a frequent patron. During one visit in 2285, while under the influence of Spock's katra, he ordered altair water instead of alcohol from Kendra, a waitress who knew him. Elsewhere in the bar, a two gamers manipulated holograms of Albatros D-III and Spad 7 biplanes in a mock dogfight.

Shortly, McCoy attempted to hire a ship to travel to the Genesis Planet, haggling with an unnamed alien, but they were overheard by a Federation Security agent. McCoy attempted to use a Vulcan nerve pinch on him, and he was arrested for violating orders not to discuss Genesis in public. (TOS movie, novelization & comic adaptation: The Search for Spock)

The bar's name was revealed in the young reader storybook adaptation of The Search for Spock. Kendra and the biplanes were identified in the novelization.
