Quin Heins was a Human male. He was tall and had fair hair. Heins was a Lieutenant in Starfleet and served aboard the USS Defiant as a security officer. He was known to be a capable field commander.

In January 2377, he was one of several Defiant security personnel who beamed down to Harkoum to capture Taran'atar and return him to Deep Space 9. Heins took the point in one of the teams and later exchanged phaser fire with Iliana Ghemor's mercenaries. Heins was later ordered to get his team out of Grennokar after its self destruct sequence was activated.(DS9 novel: Warpath)
