R.H.I.P. was a one-page Star Trek: The Original Series comic book story, the backup feature in John Byrne's Star Trek: New Visions issue #18. It was a sequel of sorts to issue #10's "Mister Chekov", which featured Ensign Pavel Chekov's arrival on the USS Enterprise and his promotion to bridge duty. In this story, Chekov savored his brand new promotion to lieutenant.

Summary[]

As part of becoming a lieutenant, Pavel Chekov earned private crew quarters, and was given those previously occupied by Angela Martine. Chekov showed Nyota Uhura the empty rooms, certain that he'd be able to spruce them up with his own touches. He thought he might ask for his grandmother's samovar, a Russian kettle. Uhura said she had lots of ideas and was willing to help him decorate. Chekov was pleased not to have to address her as "sir".
