The RRW Tyton was a 25th century Romulan Republic starship, the Tyton-class Dyson science destroyer warbird prototype in Romulan Republic Navy service from the 2400s decade. History and specifications[]
The Republic's first Dyson science destroyer was the RRW Dyson, launched in the year 2409 from the Solanae Dyson Sphere. Its first combat operation against Voth and Undine, which extended into the Jenolan Dyson Sphere, was a success. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "A Step Between Stars")
As a result of the Undine attack and an increased threat of an invasion through the two Dyson spheres, engineers of the Dyson Joint Command member states conceived of additional Solanae hybrid technologies, and delivered nine more, specialized Dyson science destroyer classes based on the successful prototypes. The New Romulus Shipyard launched the RRW Tyton, RRW Caprimul and RRW Harpia. The Tyton was the first ship of its class and specialized in strategy. It was equipped with a protonic shield matrix.
