Romulanxrad

The Romulan Radiation Disruptor in 2380.

A radiation disruptor was an experimental weapon designed by Romulan scientists; specifically, the covert Tal Shiar agency. As the name suggests, the weapon is based on using disruptor technology to emit radiation. On firing, the disruptor fills an area with deadly radiation, causing damage to any targets nearby who pass through it before it has dissipated. Unprotected lifeforms exposed to the area would then suffer from a highly accelerated version of radiation poisoning, with humanoids usually dying in less than an Earth minute. The weapon also featured an alternate fire mode to launch a more destructive blast that consumed the weapon's magazine, requiring an immediate reload.

This weapon was found and exposed by Alexander Munro and the Hazard Team of the USS Enterprise-E. (TNG video game: Elite Force II)
