Rajiv Gandhi (August 20, 1944 - May 21, 1991) was a human male who lived in the 20th century. He was the eldest son of Indira Gandhi and the grandson of Jawaharlal Nehru, both of whom served as Prime Minister of India. He was himself appointed Prime Minister following his mother's assassination on October 31, 1984. He resigned from office after losing an election in 1989.
