Although McCoy feared that the film's storyline would upset Lynn due to the fact that her husband Phil Dickinson had been killed in battle in Ireland in May 1946, Lynn enjoyed the film. While she did cry on several occasions during the film, she told McCoy that this was due to the acting and the story rather than her memories of her late husband.
