Rantura Shipping Lines was a 22nd and 23rd century organization on Deneva.

History and specifics[]

Rantura-1e

Rantura Shipping was a publicly traded company founded by Esaha Rantura on reference stardate 1/2127, originally for shuttling supplies between Deneva and Colony 5. The firm grew with Deneva's success, expanding within 30 years to own more than 100 starships. Following Esaha's death, ownership was passed along to his sons Jacos Rantura and Onto Rantura. During their purview, a profitable agreement with the Chiokis Starship Construction Corporation led to their joint design of the Deneva-class towship and other projects. (FASA RPG module: The Federation, Stardate Magazine vol. 1 (1984), Issue 2: "Corporate Profile: Rantura Shipping Lines")

The blastoneuron infestation of 2267 led to the death of Jacos, leaving Onto in charge. The company fell on hard times as Deneva tried to recover economically. Later that year, Rantura's chairman was kidnapped for a ransom of 500,000 credits. (FASA RPG module: Deneva Deception)

In 2267, Rantura and Chiokis secured contracts with Starfleet to develop a replacement for the K-class space station, as well as a warp tender to tow stations to their installation sites. The first R1 Investigator-class station, Lyra Niobe 1, entered service on reference stardate 2/0902, around the time of the 2267 Babel Conference. The first R1 Invictus-class station, Defense Outpost 6, entered service on reference stardate 2/0911. By the 2280s, well over 100 such stations had been constructed. (FASA RPG module: Regula-1 Orbital Station Deckplans)

In 2289, the company solicited starship COs for its shipping divisions in Spacelanes magazine. Grade 6 captains with a clean Master's Ticket could be offered at least 1,450 credits per month plus incentives. (FASA RPG module: Spacelanes: The Magazine of Interstellar Trade)

As of the 2290s (reference stardate 2/2306/01), its stock was still being traded on the Federation stock exchange. (FASA RPG module: The Federation)
