Raptor

The first raptor.

The raptor was a Klingon starship classification type and included several escort starship classes of varying size. Raptors were highly maneuverable and heavily armed but less heavily shielded than battlecruisers. Raptor escorts were available for commanding officers of the Klingon Defense Force ranked lieutenant commander or higher. They were also available for officers of the Romulan Republican Force pledging allegiance to the KDF. (ST video game: Star Trek Online)

The raptor lineage was introduced at some point before 2409, in the late 24th or early 25th century. Their design was based on the nimble Raptor-class, which was first encountered by Earth Starfleet in 2151. (ENT episode: "Sleeping Dogs", ST video game: Star Trek Online)

In a permutation of the mirror universe where the Terran Empire was revived, the Klingon Alliance used raptors in their war against the resurgent Terrans and their allies. Some of these were obtained by the regular KDF and RFF via the Lobi Crystal Consortium after the Tholian Assembly began experimenting with the mirror universe. (ST video game: Star Trek Online) In 2409 the Borg Collective captured Klingon vessels in the Vorn system and began replicating their designs. All of the Borg raptors were destroyed by Allied forces, and no other Borg raptors were seen outside the system. (STO mission: "The Cure Found")
