The Realta-class was a warp capable vessel based on early Earth designs for exploration. The majority of Realta class vessels where built in the 2100s. [1] The vessel's design was the basis for that of Turas-class vessels such as the USS Realta.
History and specifics[]
Propulsion[]
Realta class vessels utilized standard (Ion) Impulse Drives and a single Warp Nacelle. Realta's are capable of achieving a maximum warp factor of 6 using current technology {as of 2263}.
Structural attributes[]
Realta class vessels derive from an era before shields, presumably preceding the Franklin Class and NX-01 which utilized polarized hull plating. While ancient Realta's have a reputation for reliability and this in part derives from the focus on hull integrity and armor plating which make them durable craft. Modern Realta vessels, utilized on independent worlds (typically of a Human majority population), have added shielding to the design.
Weaponry[]
The Realta class vessels have two forward facing pulsed phaser cannons on the fore-hull to the left and right of the centralized bridge. Phasers where invented in the 23rd century, and thus like the deflector shields are revisions to the original design. What armaments the Realta had in the early 2100s can only be speculated about. But it was presumably the Plasma weapons used aboard Earth starships and freighters of the early 22nd century.
Appendices[]
Background[]
- The majority of Realta class vessels being commissioned in the 2100s and being associated with the independent movement would coincide with the political disaster known as the "Cold Peace".
