A recreation deck is an area aboard Federation starships where crewmembers could relax when they were off duty. As well as containing recreational facilities, such as the gym and dojo hall, the deck also contained a vast number of games that crewmembers could enjoy. (TOS novel: The Entropy Effect)
In 2273, Willard Decker showed a probe of Ilia some of the games and recreational facilities on the recreation deck aboard the USS Enterprise, in the hopes that some of Ilia's stored memories and emotions could be brought forward, and allow the Enterprise crew to learn more about V'Ger. Unfortunately, the attempt failed. (TOS novelization: The Motion Picture)
