A regeneration cycle was a period of regeneration in which a Borg drone's organic components needed to undergo sleep.

History and specifics

To do this a drone needed to enter an alcove. During this time, the drone's mechanical components downloaded information into the central nexus. (TNG episodes: "Q Who", "The Best of Both Worlds"; and VOY episodes: "Scorpion", "Unimatrix Zero")
