René Picard was a Human male who lived during the late 24th century. Born in La Barre, France in the late 2350s, he was the son of Robert and Marie Picard, and the nephew of Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
Like his famous uncle, he had a strong interest in space exploration. As a running joke between the two, Jean-Luc referred to René as "uncle" and René referred to Jean-Luc as "nephew". (TNG episode: "Family")
Tragically, René and his father both died in a house fire in 2371. He was survived by his mother. (TNG movie: Generations)
Like his father and uncle, René suffered from Shalaft's Syndrome. (TNG movie: Star Trek Nemesis)
Jean-Luc's own son, Rene Jacques Robert Francois Picard, was named in René's honor. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many, TNG - Typhon Pact novel: Paths of Disharmony)
