History and specifications[edit | edit source]
The last Renaissance-class starship built was the USS Hokkaido, in the year 2337. The Hokkaido was the only ship of the class built with new ASRV-type escape pods. (TNG reference: Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual)
By the 2370s decade, Renaissance-class starships were outfitted with current computer readouts used in other starships of that era. The USS Hornet bridge had a similar layout as the Intrepid-class USS Voyager in 2371. (TNG comics: "Gateway", "The Unconquered")
- A computer viewscreen listing that was part of the The Next Generation set decoration mentioned several starships of this class starting around TNG season 4. Besides being mentioned in reference books based on that graphic, this ship was never seen until DC Comics's depiction of the USS Hornet. Before that, the only description was the brief Encyclopedia mention of the USS Hokkaido.
