O'Brien and Dulath's repairs to Deep Space 9 are interrupted when a bomb explodes on the station; Kira finds a link with the girl she had been investigating.

Summary[]

Kira has created a hologram of a young Bajoran girl called Malor Ti, whose diary was found during recent repairs to DS9's power core. Kira hopes that the girl is still alive, so Sisko orders a full search of the station. Odo helps in the search using his shape-shifting abilities.

O'Brien discovers a bomb that would detonate if the reactor was activated. Odo suspects Dulath, but O'Brien disagrees. Suddenly, the backup reactor explodes and the station loses power. Whatever the concerns over Dulath, O'Brien needs his help in bringing reactor five online before life support fails. Their combined efforts pay off and power is restored.

O'Brien finds Malor's body; she died of radiation poisoning several months earlier. It was Malor who planted the bomb to seek revenge for her parents murder. Kira plans to have the girl buried with her parents on Bajor and for Bajor to remember her and those like her that suffered in the Occupation.

Log Entries[]

  • Station log: Stardate 47295.4.
Chief O'Brien and Cardassian engineer Dulath are continuing their attempts to bring one of DS9's non-operational reactors on-line in the wake of the explosion which destroyed our only primary fusion reactor. I only hope our secondary reactor functions long enough for Mr. O'Brien to succeed in his task.
