For other uses, see Richelieu.

Armand Jean du Plessis de Richelieu, Cardinal-Duc de Richelieu, or simply Richelieu, (9 September 15854 December 1642) was a human who lived in France on Earth during the 16th and 17th centuries. He was a Cardinal, a high-ranking official in the Roman Catholic branch of Christianity on Earth. He was also a political figure, being a chief minister of King Louis XIII.

Legacy[]

Over 200 years after his death, Alexander Dumas made Richelieu into a villain in his book The Three Musketeers.

While suffering from polywater intoxication, Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu roamed the corridors of the USS Enterprise looking for Cardinal Richelieu. Arriving on the bridge, upon encountering Captain James T. Kirk, Sulu believed that he had just encountered Richelieu. He proceeded to hold the bridge crew at bay with a foil until Spock immobilized him with a nerve pinch (TOS episode & novelization: The Naked Time).
