The Ring Cycle is an informal name for the collection of works known as Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung), a cycle of four epic music dramas by the German composer Richard Wagner.

History and specifics[]

The operas are based loosely on characters from the Norse sagas and the Nibelungenlied.

Deanna Troi used sections of The Ring Cycle to prevent captured Tezwan General Gyero Minza from sleeping or resting peacefully in an attempt to break him for information. (ST - A Time to... novel: A Time to Heal)
