The Risian glowbug was an insectoid species native to Risa. Glowbugs were active day and night on the tropical islands. They had no stings and would not disturb natives or tourists. (STO mission: "Horga'hn Hunt") Glowbug swarms were a danger to sand castles however, requiring arenologists to shoo them away. (STO mission: "Castles in the Sand")

Risian glowbugs could be found on the Summer Resort island in one of Risa's tropical archipelagos. The glowbugs lived in the green foliage and along the beaches of the island. Risian glowbugs ignored natives and tourists and were not hostile. (STO mission: "Horga'hn Hunt")
