Biography[]
Martinez spent 22 years trading in the Organian Treaty Zone and Triangle sector, where she earned the nickname "Rigel Rita". She was the author of The Martinez Method: A Practical Guide to Triangle Trade.
In the late 2280s decade, Martinez contributed to Spacelanes magazine, co-authoring The Law and the Profits, a popular series of articles that covered everything from smuggling and piracy to bribes and trade restrictions. In the year 2289, she co-authored the segment The Trader's Law. Known for being candid, she contrasted conservative attorney Leonard Llewellyn in their ongoing debates about how the law operates for merchants. In the next issue, the pair wrestled with merchant trading realities in the Imperial Klingon States. (FASA RPG module: Spacelanes: The Magazine of Interstellar Trade)
Quotes[]
- "The only good pirate is a dead one, because he is the only pirate you can trust."
- "The line between smuggling and creative trade operations is a fine one. Certainly I do not advocate evasion of lawful taxes or tariffs, nor transport of harmful substances. But what a trader may consider moral and what a planetary government may consider legal can differ greatly."
