The Rite of Ascension was a Klingon ritual that was taken for a child to be, symbolically, a warrior.

History and specifics[]

After ten years, the Second Rite of Ascension needs to take place in order to accept the adult Klingon as a warrior. It involved the continuous use of painsticks to test the Klingon warriors endurance and resolve. (TNG episode: "The Icarus Factor")
