The Riza homeworld was an unnamed planet located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant, in a region with fewer inhabited worlds than average.
The planet had moderate temperatures, a good nitrogen-oxygen cycle, and supported a variety of plant and animal life, including large mushrooms and alligator-like sorghis. It was the homeworld of the Riza civilization.
History[]
In the 23rd century, the planet's star would soon become a nova. Rizas prepared to colonize another world, but were uncertain how to transport their enormous master computer Wotam. Wotam developed an intelligence test called the Riddle of Ikor to locate someone whose brain could be enhanced to temporarily store all its data.
In 2266, the Federation starship USS Enterprise orbited the planet. James T. Kirk led a landing party to the surface and offered to assist the Riza exodus. Spock subjected himself to the brain-enhancing procedure, but the additional computer data drove him insanely paranoid. Eventually Spock used a Vulcan mind meld and local technology to scatter the data among three Rizas. Afterward, Rizas abandoned their planet. (TOS comic: "Mr. Oracle")
