A rocket.

A rocket was a form of propulsion, usually by chemical means. Rockets were commonly used as a means of space flight by pre-warp cultures.

History and specifics[]

An image of a rocket, as well as many specific variations of rocket design, were among the information taken from the Federation starship USS Enterprise's library computer by the Talosians in the year 2254.

Constitution-class starships were equipped with auxiliary rockets for emergency use in breaking free of a planet's orbit. (TOS episode: "The Cage")

In 2266, a meteorite collision damaged Rocket Engine Number Four of the USS Enterprise while en route to planet Alpha Z-21. (TOS comic: "Invasion of the City Builders")

The Kujalans had developed rocket power by the early 23rd century. (TOS comic: "Dwarf Planet")
