Rod Serling (December 25, 1924 - June 28, 1975) was an American screenwriter, playwright, television producer and narrator. He was best known as the creator of the science fiction series The Twilight Zone.

In 2269, the series' introduction featuring Serling "intoning dourly against a background of flickering stars" was an image which Spock saw in the mind of Roberta Lincoln immediately before severing their mind meld. (TOS novel: Assignment: Eternity)

In 2375, Constable Odo claimed that Rod Serling (Rodserl) sounded like a Romulan name. (DS9 - Millennium novel: Inferno)
