This article is about a starship CO. You may be looking for Rendell, a security officer aboard the USS Rutledge.

Rolf Rendell was a 23rd century Human man, a civilian employed by Rantura Shipping Lines on Deneva who served as the commander of the company chairman's luxury yacht, the Immaculata.

Biography[]

Born in the year 2223, Rendell attended a UFP/ITA Merchant Academy on Deneva, then worked his way up the ranks of Rantura Shipping Lines as a competent employee and loyal member of Board Chairman Onto Rantura's staff. He became an authority on computer and helm operations, leadership, and astrogation. He took professional-level training in astronomy and marksmanship. His promotion to CO of Rantura's yacht was controversial among regular employees. Rendell served faithfully, even as the company faced hard times following the blastoneuron invasion in 2267 and took a reduced salary and benefits. (Stardate Magazine vol. 1, Issue 3/4: "Deneva Deception Character Errata", FASA RPG module: Deneva Deception)

In 2267, Rendell announced he'd kidnapped Rantura and issued a ransom demand for 500 million credits to be delivered by shuttle within four hours or he would crash the ship into Deveva and kill everyone aboard. Denevan Orbital Traffic Command relayed the message to the visiting Federation starship USS Enterprise. Rendell raised the yacht's deflector shields and locked the junior crewmembers in their quarters.

In actuality, Rendell was in league with Rantura, who was so overwhelmed with despair by his financial situation that they partnered in this ruse to raise funds for him and some of the crew to disappear and establish new identities. (FASA RPG module: Deneva Deception)
