A Romulan interceptor was a type of starship, an interceptor vessel employed by the Romulan civilization.

History and specifics

Ships of this sort were familiar to Ferengi traders in the late 24th century, who kept track of the rated warp speeds the Romulan interceptor could achieve, presumably in order to do business without concern for intervention by Romulan Star Empire authorities.

When Gaila gifted Quark with a Ferengi shuttle, the Quark's Treasure, Rom examined the engines and certified the warp drive would be capable of outrunning a Romulan interceptor. (DS9 episode: "Little Green Men")

In the 2370s, interceptors were stationed at the monitoring outpost on Agurtha, used for patrolling and defending the Romulan Neutral Zone. Three were maintained on a moon of Subera and used to shoot down escaping prisoners from the world's penal colony. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The Way of D'era: The Romulan Star Empire)

In 2378, Worf, B'Elanna Torres, and Ro Laren used an interceptor to land on Romulus without raising suspicion. There, as part of a bargain with General Revo to free Spock, they kidnapped Praetor Neral and Tal Shiar Chairman Koval, then brought them to Antara. (DFT - The Stars of Home comic: "Part 1")

Worf, Torres, and Ro were forced to cannibalize the interceptor for parts to repair two wrecked Hirogen warships for combat, leaving the interceptor as an emergency lifeboat. (DFT - The Stars of Home comics: "Part 2", "Part 3")
