A Romulan mind probe is a device used by the Romulan Tal Shiar in interrogations.

V'Las, after fleeing Vulcan for Romulus, was interrogated using mind probes that left him brain-damaged. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: To Brave the Storm)

In 2375, Koval had Julian Bashir and Luther Sloan interrogated using Romulan mind probes. Bashir was able to resist them due to his genetically enhancements. (DS9 episode: "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges")

Several months later, Bashir obtained Romulan mind probes, illegal in the Federation, to force Sloan to reveal Section 31s cure for the morphogenic virus that was killing Odo and the Founders. Sloan activated a neuro-depolarizing device in his brain to kill himself before Bashir could use the mind probes. (DS9 episode: "Extreme Measures")
