A rum toddy is a beverage originating with the Human civilization of the planet Earth, an alcoholic concoction made with rum, flavoring and sweetener, and served warm.

History and specifics[]

A rum toddy was a favored drink among sailors in Earth's Atlantic Ocean on the decks of aquatic vessels in ancient times, when trade made rum the common spirit of choice.

In the year 2371, Jean-Luc Picard took on the role of a naval officer in a holoprogram for Alexander Rozhenko's Day of Honor. After being obligated to participate in this badly-programmed holodeck scenario of the American Revolution, where the safety protocols were problematic and freezing the program threatened to crash the simulation, Picard mused to William T. Riker that the experience at sea had left him wanting for a rum toddy. (TNG - Day of Honor novel: Ancient Blood)
