Ryazan (Рязань in Russian) was an ancient city in Russia located 122 miles southeast of Moscow.

In the year 2273, Lieutenant Pavel Chekov had hoped to take a passenger express subway with Hikaru Sulu and Nyota Uhura from Smolensk to Tula, and then to Ryazan, before traveling to Podolsk. Unfortunately, this scenic route would cause Uhura to miss her connecting flight, so their final route bypassed Ryazan and Tula. (TOS eBook: Shadow of the Machine)
