For the mirror universe counterpart, see SS Columbia (mirror).
For other uses, see Columbia.

The SS Columbia was a Federation surveyor in service to the Merchant Marines in the early to mid-23rd century.

Service history[]

At an unspecified point in the Columbia's service history, she was engaged by the IKS Nu'paH. The Nu'paH damaged the surveyor. (Decipher RPG module: Starships)

In the year 2236, the Columbia was chartered by Doctor Theodore Haskins and a team from the American Continent Institute, and they set out to perform a survey of the unexplored Talos star group. Soon after entering the area, they crash landed on the surface of Talos IV, with only one survivor, Vina. (TOS episodes: "The Cage", "The Menagerie"; TOS novel: Burning Dreams)

Alternate timeline[]

In an alternate timeline, Columbia went missing in 2235, still discovering Talos IV. In 2264, the UESS Enterprise was searching for the ship after detecting its distress call. During its search, the Enterprise was attacked by two Orion vessels, forcing it to return to Earth for repairs. (Star Trek: Myriad Universes novel: A Less Perfect Union)
