In the year 3189, Fleet Admiral Charles Vance of Starfleet had Lieutenant Commander Paul Stamets, the only Human capable of operating a spore drive, evacuated from Federation Headquarters aboard the civilian emergency transport Foresight to keep him out of the hands of the Emerald Chain.
After Minister Osyraa was defeated and Stamets' ship USS Discovery-A recaptured, Stamets was returned to Federation HQ. (DSC episode: "That Hope Is You, Part 2")
