For other uses, see Libra.

The SS Libra (formerly the ECS Libra) was a cargo ship owned by the Resources Corporation of Deneva which operated during the 22nd and early 23rd centuries. Its registry was with the Earth Cargo Service until 2257, when the R.C.D. cut business ties with that organization. This move established the Deneva colony's economic independence from Earth, a significant event in the planet's history.

The Libra was one of the R.C.D.'s longest serving ships, and after it was decommissioned in the early 23rd century, it was converted to a museum piece, and placed in permanent orbit above Deneva. As part of this conversion, its huge cargo areas were equipped with life support systems.

In the mid 23rd century, following the invasion of Deneva by neural parasites, the planetary government developed a plan, codenamed Plan 2757, by which the Libra would be employed as an evacuation ship in the event of another invasion or similar crisis. Plan 2757 was invoked during the Borg Invasion of 2381, and 2714 Denevans were able to escape aboard the old ship, refitted with modern warp engines. A malfunction stranded the ship en route to Ingraham B, but they were discovered and repairs were affected by the crew of the USS Enterprise-E. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
