A saint was a Judeo-Christian religious figure. In Catholicism, a person must be canonized by the pope to become a saint, presumably after committing at least three miracles. In the Mormon faith, one need only be a member.

In 1930, James T. Kirk believed Edith Keeler could be pronounced a saint. (TOS novelization: The City on the Edge of Forever)
