Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербург) is a city on Earth located in the nation-state of Russia. The city was known as Leningrad when Russia was part of the Soviet Union, named after the Communist leader Vladimir Lenin. The region surrounding St. Petersburg is the Leningrad Oblast, and the name continued to be used in the 23rd century. (TOS episode: "I, Mudd")
