Salvatore N. Santini was a 23rd century Human man, a civilian administrator.

Biography[]

Santini was an expert in Federation law and highly trained in administration. He was an authority on human psychology, but terrible at diplomacy.

In the 2260s, he was employed by Tachyon Micromechanics, Ltd., one of Starfleet's manufacturers of transporters. By 2269, he was in charge of the company's leased laboratory on Deep Space Research Facility 39, which focused on debugging a new, experimental transporter system. Lab staff, including chief researcher Sovar, reported to him.

In 2269 (on reference stardate 2/1111), station CO Jason Lee sent a subspace transmission to his superior at Starbase 12 expressing concerns that the lab seemed to be using too much power without enough shielding from transporter carrier waves, and scheduled an inspection tour of the facility. Santini considered that unwarranted interference from Starfleet, so he security-locked the corridor entrances to both decks of the lab. (FASA RPG module: The Vanished)

Shortly before the inspection would have taken place, the entire space station crew vanished during a routine communications check-in with the starship USS Enterprise. Investigation later found that an infestation by I'Iglii overloaded the transporter and dematerialized the station's personnel. (FASA RPG module: The Vanished, FASA RPG module: Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)
