The San Francisco Sun was a fictional daily newspaper published in the literature of Dixon Hill for the Earth city of San Francisco.
History and specifics[]
March 1936 Sun headlines included "Germany To Reoccupy the Rhineland". Ralph Offenhouse skimmed articles while visiting Dixon Hill's office in the Picard Program 1 holoprogram in 2369. (TNG novel: Debtor's Planet)
The Sun was sold at Joe's newspaper stand along with the San Francisco Globe and San Francisco Herald in the story The Big Good-Bye. Copies for sale were clipped to the stand's awning in 1941.
While roleplaying as Dix on the holodeck in 2364, Captain Jean-Luc Picard spotted editions of the Sun at Joe's. (TNG episode: "The Big Goodbye")
Appendices[]
Background[]
In the episode, Picard learned of the death of Dix's client Jessica Bradley by reading an article in the San Francisco Herald. A publicity photo appearing in TNG reference: Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion showed him reading the Sun instead.
