Sanaht was a Horta who served as representative from Janus VI to the Federation Council for most of the 24th century. He became a Councillor circa 2304, and remained in that position through 2380. He was well respected by his colleagues, but avoided high-profile sub-council appointments throughout his career. Regardless, Z4 Blue and Ashanté Phiri recommended to Federation President Nanietta Bacco that he be appointed to the government oversight council. The president rejected this recommendation.
Sanaht's Council staff consisted of fellow Hortas and Betazoids, because of the ease in using telepathy rather than vocoders to communicate with other species. In 2380, a female Betazoid named Rina Tran served as his chief aide, and represented him on Illuminating the City of Light in October of that year. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
