The Sanoora host planet was an unnamed planet in orbit of a single F class white star. It was colonized by Sanoora refugees in the 23rd century and was located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant.
Specifics[]
On a sector star chart, either the planet or its star was identified by the number 109.
The planet was young and barren, with some oceans and a blue sky that turned hazy green at dusk. The soil contained deadly ambient radiation, possibly sigma rays, that would prevent the planet from supporting life for another 700,000 years. (TOS comic: "Planet of No Life")
History[]
Prior to 2268, Sanoora world ships established a Sanoora settlement on the planet. An advanced anti-radiation medicine was invented to survive surface conditions. The surface was seeded with a slimy protein made from amino acids that was harvested as a food source that could be fashioned to taste like chicken or sausage.
In 2268, Starfleet sent the USS Enterprise to study the planet after sensors detected advanced life there. Sanoora detected the approaching starship and approved a visit. Leonard McCoy was provided samples of the medicine so that James T. Kirk and Lieutenant Jinz could safely beam down. After studying the drug, McCoy extrapolated a formula using two off-world elements that would neutralize the radiation planet-wide. To demonstrate, the Enterprise fired two missiles at the surface: one deploying the counter-agent, the other dropping trees on treated and untreated land areas. After aid was accepted, the Enterprise provided enough materials for the Sanoora to reclaim the planet. (TOS comic: "Planet of No Life")
- The issue's cover depicted a scene on the planet's surface, though an animal skeleton was shown that did not exist there.
