Sarah Lopez was a 23rd century Human woman. She served in Starfleet as an assistant engineer aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk in the 2260s.
History
Lopez was athletic and spent her off-duty hours lifting weights.
In 2264, Lopez was on bridge duty at the engineering station when Kirk sat in the command chair of the Enterprise for the first time.
Later, Lopez and Hikaru Sulu competed in a fencing duel in the ship's gymnasium, drawing a crowd of spectators. Lee Kelso observed the match, noticing that Sulu's agility and speed countered her natural athleticism to win the match. (TOS novel: The Captain's Oath)
