Sarsithia was an inhabited planet in the Sarsithia system, located within the M-21 star cluster of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant. It was the homeworld of the non-aligned, interstellar Sarsith civilization.

History and specifics[]

Sarsithia was predominantly covered by an ocean, but had at least two continents and some very large islands. Its atmosphere had a lower than average oxygen content.

In the early 19th century, Sarsithia was invaded by the Mirmonots, leading to 450 years of resistance and war, until they were finally driven off in the early 2270s. Subsequently, Sarsith faced postwar economic collapse, famine and social unrest.

In 2274, Sarsithia requested help from the Federation to stop the spread of an emerging plague. The starship USS Enterprise orbited Sarsithia, provided humanitarian aid and prevented wartime General Onoth from starting a fresh war, this time with the Klingon Empire. (TOS comic: "Quarantine")
