Sartak had achieved the rank of captain by the 2350s decade, serving as the JAG division commander at Starbase 32. In the year 2355, Captain Sartak convened a court martial at that starbase against Captain Jean-Luc Picard regarding the loss of the Federation starship USS Stargazer, which cleared Picard of all charges.
